I'd seen this book in bookstores before, read the back of the cover, and decided it wasn't for me. (My first impression was that it sounded like a more "religious" version of "The Lovely Bones.") But then I started hearing talk about the book and how controversial it is and I was suddenly interested.
This is one of the those books that I want my friends and family to read, just so we can talk about/debate it. Although I see why this book gets lots of peoples underwear in a bunch, I really liked a lot of the messages, including the main themes of LOVE and FORGIVENESS.
